I’m not going to blog about Flash player 10 release this time, my google reader is loaded with over 90 posts about it, therefore I’m posting about something else which isn’t in the spotlight altough it’s really worth of being there. Google just released their new API for google maps with flash / flex support, I’m very keen to look into it as I’m currently working on a bigger Flex application where I was riddling about what to use. yahoo maps or google maps, now I think I’m going to move to google maps.
Go have a look at their announcement and documentation site:

cool, this is nice. I was using afcomponent’s map component (which supports Google maps too) but I guess that’s no longer needed. I found Yahoo maps a bit slow.
However I think google hits you with heavy fees if you want to use maps commercially. Need to read the small print.
Note: Using the AFComponents Map violates our Terms of Use. Ours is the only legal way to create Google maps in flash.
FYI, we now support AIR, so you can create desktop apps as well!
