Most flash designers / developers at least heard from a guy called Yugo Nakamura, If you’ve been working with flash for as long as I am and followed the artists / developers who made the flash brand even cooler then it is, then you already know Yugo’s websites like www.yugop.com or www.monocrafts.com and followed them for quite a while, Yugo has showcased some of his artwork in various galleries and exhibitions and for quite a while I haven’t heard anything from him until today!

Once again Yugo shows the world one of the best flash sites ever seen without a huge design work, the system behind it altough is amazing. Yeh I know not impressive, there are other drawing that just blows your mind out Go check them out.

Anyway, Yugo did an impressive job on the physics engine and the whole UI, it’s definately worth a try and I’ll be watching a few more drawings the next few hours

From time to time, I search for inspiration on a Illustrator sites, what people can do with it amazes me sometimes, particularly today I was on the search for a vector based world map, after a few searches I landed on the site of JayHan, what a nice resource of Illustrator tutorials and downloads. This one is going definately to my google reader account, don’t wanna miss anything from this designer.

Here a short list of my favourites:

• CSS Hints, tips & Hacks a nice list showing some of the techniques that you will forget, nice resource to check back from time to time

This week was pretty crazy for me, I had a lot of work to finalize, got 3 new job inquiries for some freelance work and replied to over 130 emails (apart from the business ones). Anyhow I managed to move along with some personal projects. My GA account surprised me a few times when I got over 5000 hits on a single day, thanks to Carlos and a few more bloggers.

All in all it was a great week and I finally got the time to sit back for one hour and read through my 743 unread posts on Google Reader. Here a short list of interesting topics/articles:

- Silverlight vs. Flash, yeh the most known words in the blogosphere by today, who’s going to make the race? I’ve found a well written article/review from Doug looking at a few applications created with Silverlight. Honestly that post was one of those I was waiting for. Doug thanks a bunch for the time you spent writing it.

- FlashEnabledblog.com – Became a top rated source for me, Carlos is doing a great job getting the news and awesome tutorials from all around the web, I know how much time that costs, 2 thumbs up for him.

- Scale nine – As I’m in the middle of a “personal” Flex Project I need to get something funky, nice looking and sexy on my RIA, Scale Nine is the place to go. All you Flex / RIA guys go check it out.

- Rob Adams, wrote a very extensive article on the ADC about the concept of designing a Flex Application.

- Thibault Imbert aka. bytearray.org – Thibault wrote a complete Actionscript 3.0 book (in french) and somehow it didn’t get published, after so many hours of work that is definitely frustrating, from the latest post I can see that he might have a chance to publish it electronically. If someone reads this with a greater knowledge of french then mine, feel free to give me an insight as well.

- Igor Costa, “Lots of Free Icons” – Oh my God… Finally a source which I can really use, Igor posted a whole bunch of freeware Icons to use for your web & RIA apps.

Last but not least I was very happy to see that Benjamin Dobler (www.richapps.de) has been featured at the ADC on the Developer Spotlight. Benjamin is one hell of a crazy dude creating very cool applications using the ByteArray functions in Flex / AIR.

Tim Roth from the HGK Zurich created an Actionscript 3.0 platform similar to Microsoft’s Surface, the project is so groundbreaking that Adobe is now showing it at MAX 2007 in Chicago. Keeping in mind that this project was Tim’s Diploma Project with a time frame of 3,5 months. The absolutely cool thing about it, is that it’s completely opensource allowing people to implement it in their own projects.

Since I see the pic of Mike Downey (ex product manager for Flash) I assume that the pictures there are from the development and product team of Flash.
I remind myself of the easteregg on flash MX2004 where you had to click on the little Macromedia i dot to play some games

Last night, I was playing around with Google Maps and found this one out, google seriously wants you to swim from london to new york. you don’t believe me? Well then follow this steps

1. jump over to google maps http://maps.google.com/
2. Select “Get Directions” it’s right underneath the searchbox
3. Then start from zurich or london or somewhere in europe.
4. go check step 25

Funny enought though, if you start from Lisbon, Madrid or Barcelona you are always being directed to the UK first.. wouldn’t it make more sense to “drive”, “fly” a direct line and save energy?
