I was reading a tutorial about how to embed an icon on an Alert box you can find it here btw ;)

As you see the image is being embedded with

Somehow my Flex environment constantly throws an error telling me “Unable to resolve ‘assets/error.png’ for transcoding”
Well.. that’s weird, I have my flex project pretty clean and tidy, I also check for upper/lower case, where I’m definately bad at..

After a while moving images, re-writing slashes I came up with the conclusion that as soon as you embed an image into your flex app and the image is located in a folder you need to start with a slash before the folder name.

eg. You have an image located on \assets\error.png you need to call it up with following code

[Embed(source='/assets/error.png')]

Just wanted to share this with you guys, since it’s not very obvious in my eyes..

Just noticed that I’ve written a new tutorial a few weeks ago, but never published it. :(
Well anyway, I present you today the FLVPlayback enhancement yeh I know very descriptive name I’ve chosen.
Basically you learn how to extend the FLVPlayback component to be able to click on the timeline / seekbar of it and scrub through the movie. This only applies if you using your own skin, otherwise FLVPlayback skins already have that functionality at least from CS3 on ;)

Basically you just need to create a random value and append it to your load method.

I’m showing below 2 examples which can be used either the one or the other way

Example: xml.load
myXML.load("markers.xml?"+Math.random());

Example: loadvars
var random = Math.random();
loadVariables("http://www.mysite.com/myASP.asp?foo="+random,"GET");

Pretty easy and very effective.
So for the next time you trying to access an outdated external file you know that the problem is :)
